the week is Glenn Smiley. Glen scored one of the soccer Panther’s goals in a 2-0 Win over St. F.X., their lone game of the weekend, and' played what coach Gordie Wilson called, “his best game of the year.” A veteran in his fourth year with the Club, Glen is a native of Montreal who now makes his year—long residence on P.E.l., and is currently a senior Business student.

The 2nd half was mainly a defensive fight, as each team had a few good scoring chances, but neither team could materialize any goals.

If you can‘picture yourself as the cavalier, then you’ll enjoy fencing. The sport of fencing evolved from the swordplay of French noble- men. The French terminology which is still used today, is a legacy from the days when a duel could mean life or death.

pons are used in fencing: foil, epee and sabre. Both men and women fence, al- though women' are usually restricted to foil.

Fencing is a unique sport, requiring both intellectual and physical prowess. The fencer has to be able to react to his opponent’s movements plot strategies, and execute plans with speed and agility, all within a matter of seconds. It is a sport iii which the individual must rely 'solely on his own skills tovdefeat his opponent.

_If all this sounds intri- guing, don’t despair, there is. fencing at U.P.E.I. Two kinds of memberships-v are available: competitive and recreational. A competitive membership is for those who wish to compete in tourna- ments here on P.E.I. and in other provinces, and who wish to be nationally ranked,
