"REE GRANTS OF GOVERNMENT LAND. ston nipial Government of the Province of Auckland, Now Zealand, by an Act passed in March, 1858, to en- | eourage Emigration, have authorized me, as their Agent fur | Prince Edward Island, to grant to all persons {male or female ) | who wiil emigrate from this Island at their own cost, for the purpose of settling in the Province of Auckland, Free Land, according to the following scale, viz :—

For every person, 18 years and upwards, 40 acres ; and for every person upwards of 5 and under 18 years of age, 20 acres. Provided always, that in any case in which a child shall accompany the parent, the grant shall be given to the parent, and not to the child; and in any case in which a servant shall be taken, at the sole expense of the master, the allowance shall be made to the master, and not to the servant.

The parties eligible to these grants are Farmers, Farm Laborers, Mechanics of all kinds, Servants, and some Profes- sional men. None need apply except those of good moral character, and of sober, industrious habits.

Residents of this Colony, intending to emigrate for Auck- Jand, direct or dtherwise, will deprive themselves of the benefit of these Grants tnless they take their Land Orders from the authorized Agent here, previous to their leaving the Island.

BILIOUS COMPLAINTS.

Those who suffer from bile and liver complaints should try the effect of this valuable remedy, a few doses of which will make the sufferer feel elastic and vigorous, reinove all imnpedi- ments, cleanse the blood from aij] impurities, give a healthy action to the liver, and, strengthen the stomach. Tne cause of half the diseases to which humanity is liable is the mode of treating the human system when attacked with these disorders, which often lead ultimately to a fata! result. By persevering in the use of Holloway’s Pills, the most obstinate cold or cough is soon checked and cured ; for this medicine, by purifying the blood, regulating the secretions, checking the de- praved humors, and encouraging a free perspiration, rapidly puts the system into a sound and vigorous condition, thereby enabling it to throw off the disorder. Scrofula, or King’s Evil, | isa constitutional disease, a corruption of the blood, poor. Being in the circulation, it ades the: whole body, and may burst out in disease on any a <> No © is free from its attacks, nor there one which it may not destroy. The scrofu- lous taint is variously caused by mercurial disease, low living, disordered or unhealthy food, impur; air, filth and filthy habits, the depressing and, above all, by the venereal infection. What- ever be its origin, it is hereditary in the constitu. tion, descending *‘ from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation ;” indeed, it seems to be the rod of Him who says, “I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children.”

Its effects commence deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is termed tuber- cles; in the glands, swellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofulous complaints, but they have far less power to withstand the attacks of other diseases; con-

ently, vast numbers perish by disorders which, ine h not scrofuious in their nature, are still ren- dered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of the consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamina- tion; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause.
