Edward J. Hodg-on, Master of the Rolls of this Province. Tbe dry bones of the law at first thougatdo not usually strike the average layman as an uncommonly ixteresting subject. Its connection with all mercantile transactions makes it necessary tbat a lawyer at least shout have a thorough knowledge of ite underlying principles. Taking its origin from the mutual dealings of right-minded men, it may be said to be in the words of the great jurist Addision:—*‘A universal law adapted to all times and races, and all places and circumstances, being foun ded upon those great fundamental principles of right and wrong which are immutable and eternal.”

The pal'-bearers were Dr. Kelly, Sextus McLellan, John Mc~ Kenna, Daniel J. Riley, Dr. J. P. Murray, and Frank Blake. The service at St. Dunsian’s Cathedral waa conducted by Rev. Dr. Morrison. The interment was in the Roman Catholic Cemetery.
