Lancaster Bombers From Summerside Touring Britain
LONDON, (CPJ-Three Canadian schools are flying around Britain.
They are the three Lancaster bombers used for training as part of the R.C.A.F.'s specialist naviga- tion course. The huge planes, simi- lar to those which did work horse duty for the R.C.A.F. and R.A.F. over Europe during the war, drop- ped down at a British field near Bhrewsbury, Shropshire, Liter a 12- hour, 2,500-mile flight from sum- merside. P, E. 1., March '7.
They are roaming Britain tour- ing six RAF. stations and the Royal aeronautical establishment. at Farnborough, Hampshire. The nine students, all flight lieutenants, and their instructors, led by wing Cmdr. Harry A. Forbes of Tata- mazouohe. N. S.. planned to visit aircraft plants and the colonial sur- vey office.
On March 23 they head back for Canada via the Azores.
Near the end of April they'll take part in a. nine-day navigational exercise in the Arctic to complete their nine-month course.
