The April lst meeting of Mill- vlew Women's Institute was held at the ischool with an attendance of seven members. with the vice- president, Mrs. Walter Crane pre- siding.

The meeting opened with the Creed, followed by roll call. Min- utes of the last meeting were read, approved and signed.

Reports from the sale of sand- wiches showed a neat profit. Mem- bers were asked to pay 40 cents toward expenses.

The sick committee reported sl.40. and the school committee that it was necessary to get more dust- bane.

Correspondence consisted of let- ters of thanks. It was decided to buy a shut-in a gift. Seven mem- bers pald 25 cents for Institute News.

Plans were made to hold a dance in the near future, and a commit- tee was then appointed to take care of same, as follows: Mrs. Myrtle Crane, Mrs. Mary Hynes and Mrs. Emma Storey.

It was decided to leave the lights on in the school for another month.

The next meeting is to be held in the school.

Collection amounted to 35 cents. Lunch was served by the commit. tee in charge, after which the meeting adjourned.

CLYDE RIVERWAW: I.

On Monday evening, April 6th, the monthly meeting of the Clyde River Women's Institut was held at the home of Mrs. John and Mrs. Lorne MacNevin. The meeting opened with the Institute Ode and Collect. There were 14 members and four visitors present. Roll call was answered by a question for a question box. Next roll call will be answered by an exchange of flower slips or seeds.

The minutes of the last meeting were read. approved and signed. The treasurer reported that 58.50 had been received from members for the Flood Relief Fund. 51.50 was added from the funds to make I. total of :10 which had already been forwarded.

Various plays had been obtained and were discussed, but it was de- cided to leave any decision to s. later date, owing to the busyness of the season now at hand.

The sick committee presented bills for S2 for treats sent to sick members. These were paid by the treasurer. The school committee received autiiority to purchase sev- eral small items for the school. The teacher reported that the children were progressing nicely with their singing lessons,and that they were entered in two classes in the Music Festival.

Correspondence was then read and dealt with. After considerable discussion it was decided to auth- orize the expenditure of 820 for the purchase of markers for the district.

Mrs. Robert Matheson invited the members to her home for the next meeting. Collection for the evening was 32.20 and several members put their contributions in the birthday box. The meeting then adjourned and closed with ”The Queen".

The meeting opened with the Ode followed by the Creed. Roll call was answered by 11 member. and two members paid their dues, Minutes were read. approved and Signed. A two minutes silence was observed for Mrs. Macswain, a departed member of the Institute.

The sick committee reported fruit sent to three, and the school committee reported toilet paper sent to the school. Committees were reappointed.

Correspondence was read and discussed. It was moved and sec- onded to send 10 cents each to the A.C.W.W. fund and 25 cents for entertaining the delegates from other countries in Canada. A card of thanks was received from Mr. Macswain -and family for flowers and kind expression of sympathy; also a card from Wilbur Younker thanking members for the fruit sent him while sick. Letters of thanks were received from teach- ers and pupils for things the In- stitute bought for the school, and a note thanking the Institute for the sewing sent in to the Red cross.

The committee appointed to pack a box for a boy in Korea was Mrs. Richard Dickieson. Mrs. Harold Dickieson, Mrs. Earl Houston. Mrs. Chalmers Leard, Mrs. Harland Hill, Miss M, E. Campbell, and Mrs. Revel Dickieson. It was moved and seconded that all bills be paid.

The entertain- ment part of the convention to be held in the New Glasgow Hall was discussed. The secretary was in- structed regarding the 40th anni- versary of the four oldest Women's Institutes on the Island, to be held in the Prince of Wales College.
