Anne shook her head. "I have my school, but I'll be coming over week- :-nds. And in the summer Vicky and I will stay here a iot."

"Thank the Lawd fer that." Kins said fervently. "I'ain' exac'ly what you'd call lonesome, but I misses Mr. Charles."

Returning a little later with waffles crisp and brown on a blue plate, King further elucidated. "I-Ie'd 'a bin heah now cf she had'n cdme fer him."

Color flamed in Anne's Checks- "Como for him?"

"Yes. ma'am. She come in a speed boat and sent it back and stayed. And when he come, he wouldn't keep her. He made me tek her 10 the mainl-an'. An' all that night he didn't sleep. Anne ventured. "Do you think he's happy?"

"Happy?" There was scorn in old King's voice, ”No'm, he alnl. How he gwine be happy with a woman like that?"

The sun setting now, blazing up red from the horizon. "We must run along." Vicky said. "but we'll be coming back."

The regular meeting of tin: Alpha Womenis In.stii.ui.e was held at the home cf Mrs. Clifford Chappcil. The meeting: opened with the sing- ing of carols followed by the creed repeated in unison. The minutes were then read and approved. It was decided to give gifts for the shut-ins and Mrs. Dolph Murray and Mrs. Raymond Vessey are to get them. It was also moved to Qivc 56,00 in teachers to get frosts for school children at the Christ- mas concert. Miss Richards than read :1 story on Christmas which was very much enjoyed by every- one. Contests were then out on by Mrs. Harry Swan and Mrs. Frank Watts. Roll call was then called which was aim'.vcred with an ex- change of Christmas gifts. Lunch was then served by the hostess and committee in charge.
