We regret to have to record the sudden death of Mrs. P.C. Kelly, who departed

this life at Traeadie, on the 10th inst., after a short illuess of twelve hours. Mra. Kelly was attended in her illness by the

Rev. Pastor of Tracadie, who administered the last rites of Holy Church.

The funeral, which was very largely at- tended, took piace at Tracadie, where a solemn Requiem Mass was chanted by the Rev. F. C, Keily, of La Pierre, Michigan, a nephew of Mr. P. C. Kelly. The Rev. Pastor of Tracadie, Father R. Curran, and tev. Father Boyd officiated at the Mass as leacon and sub-deacon respectively. The deceased was beloved and respected by all who knew her. She leaves four small

hildren and a sorrowing husband to mourp their loss. To them we extend our sym- pathy in their sad bereavement.

The mills interested the Kent mills, Chatham; the St. Thomas mills, the Aylmer mills, and the Blenheim mills. The Manitoba Government’s official crop bulletin was issyed a few davs ago. It shows that the estimated yield of the province will be as follows ;—Wheat, 25.5 bushels per acre, or a total of 29,139,“15 bushels; oats, 45.3 bushels per acre, total 21,887,416 bushels; barley, 36.8 bushels per acre; total, 5,507,310 bushels; flax, total 1,124,000 bushels; rye, total 62,810 bushels ; peas, total 24,250 bushels. The total yrain yield for the province is placed at 57,861,621 bushels. It is computed from the returns that 5,700 extra agricultural laborers will be wanted to handle the crop in time to escape the frost.

A question of great interest to Canada was asked in the house of commons on Friday last by Mr. Price, who inquired

if the government was aware that the present exclusion of Canadian store cattle had caused and was causing severe loss in

some of the agricultural districts and whether the restriction can be removed.

The president of the board of agriculture. Walter Long, replied that as late as July lst, cases of cattle suffering from pleuro-

pneumonia had been found among the cargoes coming from Canada, and the

government, in consequence, must main- tain the restrictions placed upon such cattle. Mr. Long added that the govern- ment was communicating with the govern- ment of the Dominion of Canada on the subject.

Not only in France and Germany, but in certain parts of the United States, horse- meat factories are in operation, and an ex- tensive businessiscarriedon. Within the past few weeks 7,000 horses have been bought in WashingtouTerritory bythe Portland Horse Meat Canning Company at $3 a head, the auisnals to betaken to Portland as soon as required. The agent of the company, who is trayelling through the range country, says that the hide, mane andtail alone of eaeh horse will bring $2.50, leaving the entire carcass a clear profit. The growth of this industry is a fruitful subject of philosophical comment. Brights disease and blood poisoning of Mr. Langley, of this city, by the nse of Dodd’s Kidney Pills, has recalied the wonderful facts of the case to the citizens, among Mr. Langley is well known. It has re— minded them that Mrs. Langley among others also made an equally wonderful recovery. The use of thé pills however has become so universal here, and there have been so many instances in which they have been used with beneficial re- sults that a similar case would hardly ex- cite as much interest now as it did then when the medicine was less known.
