William "Pud" Beer added the championship of the Charlottetown Golf Club to his provincial title over the weekend by defeating Alan, Macmillan in a 39 hole com- petition at the Belvedere links four and three.

Beer went two-up at the end of the first. 18 holes and while Mac- Millan matched his opponent hole for hole in the outgoing nine of the final 1B. Beer pulled away in the home coming nine winning the 10th and 13th holes and the match ended on the 15th green.

Mrs. sterling MacDonald and Maurice Dowling won the mixed foursomes competition Saturday aftomoon when they carded a gross 60 for a nat 4'1. Runners-up were Mrs. W. E. Cotton and Frank Maclnnis who had a gloss 91 for a net 53.

Jersey City Giants Win Inter. Pennant

Jersey City's Giants captured the International League pennant on the final day of the regular sea- son Sunday by whipping Balti- mora 6-3 while Montreal's defend- ing champions lost the first game of a doubleheader to Toronto, 9-5.

The victory gave Jersey City a final record oi 94-60 and the lss made Montreal's slate 93-60. Thus, even though Royals won the sec- ond game against ‘Ibronto, Mon:- real still trailed the Little Giants by half a game.

By winning Jersey City. farm club oi the New York Giants. ciimaxed an uphill battle to over- come the Royals. a Brooklyn farm. It was one of the greatest come- backs in the history of the Inter- national League as the Littlc Giants finished in the cellar last year.
