LONDON (AP) - The British government Friday sued Eldon Griffiths. chicf European corres- pondent of Newsweek magazine. alleging contempt of court In an article about Dr. John Bodkin Ad- ams.

The article was distributed in Britain while Dr. Adams was on trial on a charge of murder. He was acquitted last Tuesday.

Attorney - General Sir Reginald lllannlnghnm - Butler told a court that parts of the story in the Am- erican magazine "clearly tended or were calculated to interfere with the due administration oi criminal law and prejudice the fair trial of Dr. Adams."

He referred to passages saying "a remarkable number" of Ad- nms' patien had remembered him in their wills and "gossip pushed Dr. Adas' victims as high as 400."
