Something new in local elec- tion campaigning was intro- duced on television last night when all four Island Liberal candidates held an “open line" meeting at Station CFCY.

With combination telephone operators and stenographens taking calls from all parts of the province as people tele- phoned their questions aimed at particular candidates, mo- derator Elmer Blanchard then requested the answers.

It was the closing effort of the campaign and all connected with it expressed complete sa- tisfaction with the innovation. Mr. Blanchard said frankly he had been afraid there would not be a sufficient number of questions asked to maintain the pace required to fill the time available. However, he stated, the opposite had proven true when so many queries were ‘phoned in they could not all be answer .
