it was the most exciting ser- ies seen in a long time on Prince Edward Island.

In fact. does anyone remem- ber an Island top-bracket cham- pionship decided in sudden- death overtime?

It Was Unfortunate

It was unfortunate that such a thrilling series should have to be tainted by questionable pro cedure on the ott’iclal level. For the executive to render a de- cision and then do an about face and give another decismn was unfortunate. We do not doubt the sincerity of the group. If a base judge called a runner sale all then, on second thought. reversed the decision and call- ed him out, an uproar of pro- test would be almost sure to follow even if the judge were acting good faith. Once those home pressurized cookies. the referee and the linesman. told their little bed-time stories. it was dlfficult to repair the damage.

The Combines seemed to be the whipping boys for the rules and regulations all win- ter. A game they had won in decisive fashion was thrown out because of a referee's mistake. We’re not saying this should not have been done. The Eagles were alert enough to take advantage of it. Rules are rules, and, by the way, have you read rule 11 (B)? it says: “Each rink must he provided with some form of electrical clock in order that spectators. players. and game officials will be ac- curately informed as to the time element at all stages of the game." If the game which the Combines won from the Eagles could be thrown out on a technicality, why couldn’t the last game the Royal; and Combines be also thrown out? .

Jim Brooks and Edith Clay piled up the high score. Kenny MacDon- ald. Dorothy Nicholson, Dan Herring and Annie Bears ware second prize winners while a team consisting of Art Sullivan, Peg Sullivan.
