Often, we've .ked ourselves, what role we really play here a campus besides seeing recuputer identify us as "mmber and paying our ~ dent union fees?

Students do keep on running into difficulties and have questions about the current system of pro- grams offered at UPEI.

Yet, no one seems to be 'answering'tiuan. Many Freshmen, for example, need more of an explanation on their course of studies.

. Obviously the lack of

canmnfication bebmaal \ students and their faculty advisors will have to be remedied. _

The general feeling is that the system of programs here at UPEI is inflexible and out of date. A core curriculum should be formed which would enable us to take courses frtnlother faculties. Take a look at other Maritime universities- Many have had, now for a number of years, a three tier systen of education _ featuring a general program, a majors and an honours program. Our majors program cxnmares favourably with their honours program. But\ Senior students from UPEI applying to graduate schools are barely accepted directly into specific graduate pro- grams, because these other universities feel that "students enrolling for those graduate programs should have been following an honours undergraduate Program."

Apparently those in residence do, judging by the complaints, and by the efforts of thosefwho were recently able to make it operable at Blanchard.
