Some Preliminary (Questions and Answers.

Debate on the Address Next Monday.

Orrawa, Aug. 21. Parliament only opened yesterday. The debate on the address will commence on Monday. Sir Charles Tupper said that he desired to ask that there be laid on the table of the House the correspondence which took place in connection with the resignation of the late government. It was, he said, very desirable to have that correspondence before the House when the Address was being considered, as it would enable them to deal with the question of administration at the same time as when dealing with the Address. Mr. Laurier said that he would give the answer to-day. The committee to supervise the debates appointed nine Liberals and six Conserva-— tives. In reply toa question by Sir Charles Tupper, as to the settlement of the Mani- toba question, the Premier said: “I have pleasure in informing the hon, gentleman that on my invitation Mr, Sifton, Attorney- General of Manitoba, came down with a view to arranging with the government ior negotiations in regard toa settlement of that importaut question.
