Dear Sirs Now it’s on. The article “Coca-Cola Lends Encouragement” in the January 19th issue was the most inane thing I’ve read outside of PEOPLE WEEKLY. The large type-face and the empty space at the bottom probably means you had nothing better to write about. I feel so violated. Maybe the Coke machines will cheer me up. In related news, if you can tear your eyes away from the “brand-spanking” new machines and look toward the other side of the pit, you will see that Pepsi is still being sold on-campus. Furthermore, | have little remorse for those sods at the University of Manitoba. After doing a little math, I found out that we are paying 0.296 cents per millilitre before deposit for a bottle ofnon-existent Pepsi. At the U of M, they are paying 0.250 cents per millilitre. The BC government has been proactive in that it has frozen tuition at 1995 levels which created nearly 13,000 new student spaces across the post-secondary system in three years and has increased funding substantially since 1992. Would PEI youth be so lucky?

Re: your article and Recommendation 16.8 of the UPEI 1998 Audit: I heartily endorse any efforts to reduce textbook costs to students. It is about time too.
