At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Public Archives of Nova. Scotia, the appointment of an Archivist was made in the per- scm of Professor Daniel Cobb Har- vey, who has been Head of the De- partment of History of the Univer-

:. sity of British Columbia.

Professor Harvey was born at Cape Traverse, Prince Edward Is- land. After taking his preparatory training at the Prince of Wales Col- lege, Charlottetown, he entered Dal- housie University and graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts with great distinction in 1910.

0n his graduation he was select- ed as Rhodes Scholar from Prince Edward Island and spent the three following years at Oxford; from which he graduated with honors in 1913. Late: he took the degree of M. A. from Oxford. On his return to Canada he held posts in history at. McGiil, Wesley College and the University of Manitoba at: Winni- peg, and has been the Head of the Department of History of the Uni- versity oi.’ British Columbia for the past three years. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Can- ada. in 1928. _ '.

Professor Harvey is well known among the historical people of Can- ada, having written articles and rc- views for current periodicals, and given lectures and read many pap; ers before historical and other socie- ties. Hls most; important recent work in his volume on “The French Regime in Prince Edward Island.”
