-The New Wilmot District School bus which is now in operation has created much favorable comment and much credit is due to he people of the district and the school trustees through whose efforts the conveyance was pro- vlded. Painted with school colors and plainly lettered on the sides and back the new bus provides comfort and safety for the children on their way to school. It will" be driven by Mr. Haber McQuarrie who has for a nuiribenof years driven the small truck which had been fitted with benches and used until such time as the modern bus was available.,—8.

--PROPERTY CLEARED- Yes- terday the town cleared up the former Allen property on Summer Street which had been in quite a mess since the building’ had been demolished last year. The property has been purchased by the Post Office Department on which to erect a new Post. Office building sometime in the future. The build- ing had been solddast summer to be torn down but the foundation and a great deal of rubble remain- ed. As the property is adjacent. to the Town Square it looked all the more unsightly. The Town Council and the Mayor have been making otlorts to have it cleaned up for 3 the summer and yesterday they had a bulldozer go to work on it. and push everything into the cel- , lar and level it off. Nothing now remains to show that a building was ever located theme-S.

Rifle Association Victory Prize Meeting at Connaught rifle ranges August 11th. Twenty-four - a full quota, handed in their names and our Secretary made a contract with Maritime Ce ai Airways to fly the team to Oi. we and bring them back. This was an innovation and created quiic a bit of interest in the Capital city. lt is understood that other associations may follow the precedent this year.

Ottawa Meeting

The meeting at Ottawa was one of the largest ever held, over 600 of the bes riflemeri from all over Canada being present. Spaceldoss not permit a list of our team's achievements but it may be re- marked that for the first time in the history of Maritime team- eight riflernen representing this Province. won the most valuable trophy at Ottawa — tha London Merchants’ Cup. The very best irr- fantry units throughout Canada had crack teams of marksman shootin for it. They also won other Ewards and a considerable amount of prize money. Gratifying was the fact that Major A. F. Gorrnley of this city won a place on the coveted Bisiey team for the third time in succession. This team is composed of the 18 top marks- men in the Grand Aggregate at Ottawa. Major Gormley was first chosen in 1938 and again in i839.

The final activity of our Asso- ciation was the staging of the City Championship Rifle Match sep- tember 27th. Despite cold. rainy blustery weather over twenty rifle- men took part and wonderful to relate. agt. G. A.=Colas of ‘Summe side scored 100 points out o! s. possible 105 to win the coveted cup.
