The argument over the “‘put- ting to sleep” of patients dying of_ineurable, extremely painful illnesses was renewed last week | when Dr. Maurice Millard, a phy- sician' member of the British Euthanasia Society founded by his father, told a Burton-on-Trent PRotary Club-meeting-that-he-had: administered a drug to a “de- voted Christian lady” dying of cancer to keep her unconscious “until death took over.”

Millard said the woman asked for a lethal dose of drugs after making “her peace with God” and settling her affairs.

The doctor added that his cons- cience was “completely clear.”

MONTAGUE — The funeral of the late William Daniel MacK non, Brooklyn; was held Sat day from the Valleyfield Unit Church. Rev. F. MacKinnon, as- sisted by Rev. M. Carl Currie, conducted the service at the’ church and grave.

Hymns sung were “The Lord’s

Shepherd’”’ and “Shall We lather at the River”, and the Brooklyn Trio sang “Will the Circle be Unbroken”. .

Pall bearers were Lioyd Mac Kinnon, Jack MacKinnon, George MacKimnon, Hector Matheson, Gordon Matheson and Colin Mac- Innis. Flower bearers were Pres ton. Beaton, Lloyd Mellish, Sey- mour O’Connor, Donald Mac Leod, Malcolm Matheson, Alex MacPhee and Alex MacKinnon.

Interment took place in Vailey- field Cemetery.

‘ MONTAGUE — John Ballum presided at the regular meeting of the Men’s Association of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Montague, Thursday evening. There were 15 member present.

The meeting opened with the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the Scripture read by Emerson O's Connor.

At the close of the business period, the members participated in a panel discussion led by Dr. William MacIntyre.

The speakers for the evening were Dick MacLean, Harry
