[During the fall, winter and spring months when schools are in session and youth groups, such as Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, are active, provincial parks attempt to teach these children a little about our environment.

In the past this has meant either visiting the school with a group of stuffed animals, and talking about the animal’s role in nature or meeting the class in

a woodlot near the school and making a tour through the various habitats present. This winter the Parks Branch, with co‘operation from the Department of Education, have developed a series of trails at Brudenell Provincial Park and Mill River Provincial Park with an accompanying brochure to talk about various aspects of the ecology of the area. Parks is also preparing walks which-will concentrate on forests and ponds which should be ready for this spring or next fall.
