Former Greek a Premier Dies In Paris

By Guardian's Special Wire) PARIS, March 18 — Eleutherios Venlzelos, seven times Premier of Greece. died today in Paris, whence he fled after a bloody 10-day revolt led by him a year ago was crushed.’ The "Father of the Greek Re- public", generally acknowledged to be one of the greatest statesmen of the 20th century. was '12 years old. His death came after a short illness and was due to complications aris-

ing from an attack of grippe.

Vcnizelos, living in self-imposed exile here, saw the republic he had moulded turned into a monarchy again last fall when King George was recalled to (he throne.

A death mask was made today and scores of Greek workmen called at the home along with European diplomats.

Until recently Venlzclos was un- der sentence of death in his na- tive land. He was tried for treason for hi‘; part in last March's revolt and condemned in absentia. King George II however, included him in a general amnesty decreed shortly after his return to the throne. MONARCH PAYS TRIBUTE
