There are rules a landlord can set within the Land— lord Tenent Act but these must be outlined in the lease— rent agreement. If any rules violate the Act, then evi- dently the agreement is invalid. In the interpretation of this writer several violations are contained in the present agreement and an immediate apology is the only honorable action left for the administration. A new lease should be signed and a more responsible position taken. Would you believe one girl told me she was advised by the Residenthanager that because the old lease—rent agreement was signed the residences weren't covered by the Landlord and Tenent Act?!? ~‘

HOW TO VOTE: Introduction: Last year The Cadre ran an article picking choices for the spring elections. The ‘purpose was eventually to show what a small amount of faith politicians have in voters. Virtually every candidate and all of last year's executives complained that the article would sway the election vote drastically.

I have more faith than that in university students. However, I'll still share my humble opinions on elections. First; what to look for in a candidate: knowledge and opinions of duties, specific position nominated for and organization (Student Union). Also, although not nearly as important, experience.

Next is; why bother to vote? Some people say that the. Student Union has no say in any important decisions at UPEI. Maybe so, but this is a young university and a good council could definitely make constructive steps toward student involvement in decisions which ultimately affect students. This doesn't mean just improve conditions for students, but much more importantly improve the whole university community. ‘ ' '

A good turnout of responsible voters next Wednesday will give council confidence that it is strongly supported

by students. . Let's make our Student Council the official voice

of a real Union.
