ANSWER: There are no standardized thirty-seven varieties of charms that appeal to the taste of all boys. so nobody can give you any hard and fast rule for achieving popularity with the choosy and hard-to-please sex.

The very quality for which one boy falls leaves an- other bcy cold. Some boys like 'em tall and others like ‘em short. Some like ‘em athletic and others Alice-sit- by-the-fires. Some are all for the vivacious girl, while others are swept off their feet by prim little maidens _ who have never a word to say for themselves. So there you ale, and there are the boys and probably not one in l hundred could tell you to save his life just what he saw in some par- licular girl that made him prefer her to all the balance.

‘Of course, we think of beauty as the most potent attraction that a girl can have for a man. Probably it ls, but beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and men can't even agree on that point, for many a man sees a swan in what others consider an ugly duckling.

At any rate. however. good looks are a bet that no girl can afford to overlook, and she should do the best she can to improve her per- sonal appearance if she wants to make a hit with men. Fortunately for her. men never differentiate between a girl and her clothes, and good grooming and a pretty frock will make any girl at least passably at- tractive, even if she wouldn't take a prize in a beauty show.

Boys like a girl who is a good listener and who has the knack of drawing them out and getting them to talk about themselves and what s wow they are with the flappers and what a wild party they went n‘); and what they said to their employers and their employers said to

em. i Then boys like a girl to know how to do things. Any girl to be popular in these days must be a good dancer. She must know how to swim and play tennis and golf and play a good game of bridge. Other- wise she will be out of the picture.

Boys like girls who are intelligent, but they prefer plain common sense to brilliancy. They like a glrl who reads enough to talk about subjects of current interest, but mey steer clear of a highbrow who wants to discuss the Einstein theory. And they dread and fear the girl who is a wisecracker and the one who makes sarcastic remarks about people, for they fear they may be next and they have a holy horror of being held up for derision.

Boys like girls who are good-natured and Jolly and kind-hearted. They are not catty themselves, and it repels them when the little sweet- ies scratch each other‘: eyes out.

Boys like girls who are appreciative and who repay them for the money they spend when they take them out by showing that they have a good time. And especially do they like girls who go easy on their pocket- books and who do not order everything expensive on the menu when they go to a restaurant or insist on high-priced night clubs when they step out of an evening. They like the girls who like them, but they resent being pursued and hunted down over the telephone.

And they like girls for a thousand other reasons and just because

Dr. McLester states that while vitamins are im- portant the average healthy indi- vldual can obtain all the vitamins necessary by buying his vitamins from his grocer or dalryman. Those who are not well should obtain their vitamins froim their druggist, as prescribed by their physician. Dr. McLester tells us that to- day we are in the protein em. the smlm acids of protein, 22 in num- ber of which ten are absolutely necessary to maintain normal health. And in sickly weak indivi- duals, and in emergencies such as pregnancy and starvation, nothing raises the physical strength like acnino-acids.

Some months ago daily newspap- ers throughout. the world carried the information that amino-acids, as used by Dr. Co. Tui, brought about rapid healing in many cases of stomach and inlestlnal ulcer. Bimilary surgeons report more ‘rapid healing of wounds where amino-acids are given before and after operation.

While those who are well can ob- tain all the amino acids needed by eating meat once or twice a day, where there is extreme weakness or the individual lacks appetite and has poor digestion. which condi- tion lowers his morale, the use of _amino acids by mouth or injection into a vein brings brilliant re- sults almost immediately.

~ Two years before Confederation there were 1.646 persons engaged in the fishing industry, with 1.183 boats of various types in use. By 1901 there were 4,653 fishermen in boats, 111 on vessels with 7,286 per- soiis employed including canners.

In those days fishermen employ- ed quite an array of contraptions for gieaning from the sea t is source of wealth. The various gad- gets included seines, gill nets, trap nets, scoop and bag nets. hoop and fyke nets, trawls and wire.

The great price spread (so we are told) was due to large catches of lobsters and mackerel, which amounted to over $1,300,000 previous year.

In the center of the coin there was the picture of a codfish. Fishing is one of the Island's oldest industries. ln 1728 there were only 23 fishermen in L'Isle St. Jean. But 65 years earlier Sieur Doublet, with a couple of compan- ions, established a few fishing sta- tions which continued to operate till about 1700.

St, Peter's is believed to be the oldest fishing village in the Island. Between the years 1807-1808 over 900 U. S. A. vessels took fish from the waters of the Gulf stream. 600 U. S. schooners fished regularly on the North Side of the Million Acre Farm. Fish were so plentiful in those days that mackerel could ,be taken close inshore, and lobsters could be loaded into carts by means of forks. The rocks about the shore actually swarmed with them.

In 1903 e. marine biological sta- tion was established at Malpeque and spent a d season there in 1904. The object of this station was to look into the spawning, life history and habits of the oyster; to find new methods of increasing the productiveness and value of oys- ter beds. These early steps have since led to good results in that disease can now be checked and a higher grade of oyster produced. 20,000 barrels of this delicious sea food was not an unusual take in the different bays and rivers of the Garden of the Gulf.

Oyster culture in Prince Edward Island heads the Canadian provinces and is proving a good source of revenue for those engaged in the business of oyster farming.

For example, in a period of 25 years, over a million barrels of oys- ters were raked from the river beds of Canadian waters, more than half of which came from petite P. E. I.

Our lobster fishing brings us in approximately half a million dol- lars each year and gives employ- ment to some 2.000 persons. Hatch- eries have now been established at a number of points as has also curing plants and canning factories. The government has wisely regu- lated fishing and certain months which tends to conserve the value of the industry as well as giving the various kinds of fish a chance to grow up.

The Dominion Government pays bountles to worthy fishemen, a cus- tom dating back to Colonial days. Object: to encourage fisheries. The Provincial Government re- tains ownership of the beds of riv- ers and crown rights to the sea- shore and has power to grant deeds and leases thereof.

But regulation of the fisheries is controlled by the Dominion. One of the Cabinet Ministers holds the office of Minister of Marine and Fisheries, and his duties are look- ing after these public services.

Turn into a mix- lng bowl and add one egg at. s time beating thoroughly after each addition until the eggs are sll well mixed in. For tiny puffs. drop mounds the size of s small ‘walnut on greased baking pan. Bake in moderately hot oven. . 400 to 425 deg. F., for 10 minutes. Then re- duce the heat to 350 and continue to bake 15 to 20 minutes or until nicely browned. libr full-sized puffs make the portions egg size and sl- iow a longer baking time. Let puffs stand uncovered until used. Fillings for Small Puffs: 1. Add finely-chopped to a thick cream sauce.

2. Peanut butter plain. or with a dash of cream sauce to which has been added bacon chips or orange mannalade.

3. Sandwich spread with chop- ped pickle and thinned with salad dressing or cottage cheese.
