It ended with a net. loss on thr week, however, without giving any

clear cut indication that it in- tended to continue its upward movenient.

There were two significant de- velopments ill the dividend freirl. Pacific Mills omittcd its dividend due at this time after paying 50 cents quarterly previously. The action caused momentary concern in the market.

Texas Co. raised its regular div- idend to 75 cents from 65 cents, and that encouraged a rally uii the oil division. I,

The week starteri under the cloud of the spreading coal strike, and the market declined at little. The next day was calm with prices down a shade.

On Wednesday the selling storm hit the Associated Press average. of 60 stocks dropped 31.10 at 5103.60.

Thursday the recovery started with railroads leading. and it con- tinued on Friday until the net loss on the week was only 40 cents in the AP average.

The five most active issues on the New York Stock Exchange last week were:
