Nomination polls are no» closed for the 1980

Student Union Elections. i The election will be

held on March 17th 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in

Pobertscm Library. Voter eligibility is as,

follows: , . ' ‘

a) any student who is an activemerrber Of the- UPEI student union on the day of election

b) a Student may only’vote once ‘ a '

c) each voter is eligible to cast one vote only fer each seatbeing contested, except for the position 0f,.Senate,~MIere two represen-

' tatives are required, so two Votes may be cast.

Following are rules will be enforced for the Student Union elections: I « y ‘

1. During polling hours the (hief Electoral Officer or her workers. will not permit loitering in the polling stations bygunauthorized persons .‘ Any- agent or sorutineer may request enforcement of this regulation. _ ']

2. Counting of ballots will beunder the super— vision of, the Chief Electoral Officer as well as each candidate's auﬂuorized scrutineers. '

3. The Chief Electoral Officer will'declare ' successful candidates and_,the results and total votes cast will be published and posted on all bulletin'boards as soon as twenty-four hours after the polling station closes. ,

4. All election posters ’and propaganda must be re- moved and cease the night (11:55) before the election March 16, 1980 (Sunday) excepting in

5. In event of a tie, the Chief Electoral Officer ‘Will declare‘another election to take place within forty—eight hours The candidates from the tie vote will be the only candidates in the run—off.

6. Any candidate found tohave received money or services from any non—union organization, directly or indirectly, shall be declared null and void.

[in 1980, as every year, student apathy raises its ugly head during the Student Union elections» This ' time around six candidates (5 Arts Reps and 1 Science -Rep) have been ushered into office because no one cared enough to oppose them: This nasty fact is now history, but i urge you to compensate For it by voting on eiection day, Monday, March 17. If YOL don't vote you may be sorry next year.
