Friends and former pupils will regret hearing of the passing of Sister St. James of It. Joseph's convent. Charlottetown, in Mont- real yesterday.

Sister St. James had been (all- ing in health during the past year and it was only recently that she moved to the Mother House of the Congregation ef Notre Dame. Montreal.

Born at Lake Verde. Prince Ed- ward Island she was the daugh of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Connolly.

Supervisor of Art here -for It years she will be remembered also by former pupils at Sydney. N. S.. Notre Dame Academy. Montreal. and St. Mary's Acad- emy. Summerside. Many of her paintings grace the walls of the reception room at St. Joseph's.

The well-loved sister was known for her devotion to her duties as well as for her quietness and her dry wit. Her brother. Rev. 1''. L. Connolly. passed away in Decem- ber of 1953. She leaves one sister. Mrs. Patrick McQuaid of Char-

Sudden Death Of Cardigan Lady

..tThe death occurred suddenly at her home at Cardigan Head yesterday morning of Mrs. John William MacDonald h her 78th year. Mrs. MacDonald passed away after a short illness and her death came as a shock to her many close friends and rela- tives.

Surviving are her son, James A. Mat-Donald of Cardigan. and daughter 'Berthn (Mrs. Wendall Jay) of Fanning Brook. Prior to her marriage. Mrs. MacDonald was the former Mamie Taylor. a native of Annandale.

The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon. Interment will be in Cardigan cemetery.
