We have our gallery with the portraits of friends and we often visit this place, standing before faces that have fled. This is one of the rich tnlngs about life; but I do not sup- ,|.0se that any of us have very many. The series in the "Reader's Digest" about the most unforget- table characters that the authors had met tells of the picture gal- ,eries of some people.

Sir Walter Scott met Burns when the latter was in Edinburgh. Scott was but fifteen. He never forgot the glow in the eyes of tllr. Scottish poet. That face was put up in his gallery. Hazlitt tells of a visit that Coleridge paid to his father. It was a red-lather day in young Hazlitt! life. That was a picture for his portrait gallery.
