OK, well Iraq is not exactly a neighbor but the earth is getting smaller. Why would he do this? I suspect first off is because Daddy told him, not just Daddy though, but many of the cast of advisors that cut their teeth in the Seniors administration. We might be fed the guise that Iraq is close to a missile shield or whatever else they want to say, but why start a war with a new enemy when you can always go back and give the same guy another beating. Republicans ruling in Washington for the next two years (they have a majority in Congress), if not four, and they will not be shy about going to war.

For people in power, war is an attractive alternative (not that I advocate this). War takes peoples’ focus off domestic affairs, they are concerned about their neighbor’s lives. People tend to unify around this unless it is adamantly opposed (see Viet Nam), but what war does to an economy is create a demand for goods. Weapons of war and their varied accessories are not cheap. The government must spend money to replace used equipment. As demand increases then all of a sudden some manufacturers are going full tilt. They need more peo-
