GEORGE E. DOCIIEBTY

The many trlends and neighbours or George E. Docherty oi Pine?-ie were very much shocked to learn or his sudden passing at the 338 od lilty-three years at the P.ll1 Island Hospital on April 16th 1950 while undergoing an operation. George the youngest son of John and Mary Docherty oi Eli-nwood, was born in Elmwood March 9th, 1891 where he lived until the out- break oi World War I. Then seveneen years 0! age, he gave his services in the Canadian Army overseas. in 1918 he returned to Pinette and learned his trade as blacksmith where he lived and worked at. it until again in 1939 he gave his ser- vices in another world coniiict and at the end of the war returned to his home to resume his duties until his passing. Geroge was twice married; his lirst wile. iormeriy Esther Younker of Kingston, pre- deceased him some eighteen years ago and left to mourn the loss 0! loved ones who are Bertram oi Charlottetown and Helen or New Haven. His second wile, formerly Verna Jardine or Kingsboro, is leit to mourn the loss or a loving hus- band along with ilve daughters, Iva, Esther, Myrtle, Elva, Norma. and one son. Layton, all at home and all of whom he so clearly loved. Bereit at a loving brother are John 0! Kingston, Annie (Mrs. John MacPhee) New Haven, and Sadie (Mrs. John C. MacDonald) Point Prim, Three brothers predeceased him, namely Daniel oi Kingston, Alex or Elmwood and Kenneth. New Haven.

On April 18 a short service was held at the Cutclitla Funeral Home. then his remains were taken to Clyde River Presbyterian Church where Rev. Donald Nicholson de- livered to the mourners a very comforting message. Rev. Mr. Pur- cey oi Milton and Rev. J.R.. skin- ner assisted in Scripture reading and comprehensive prayer. At the grave the L.O. 1.. of which George was a highly respected member lo: a number oi years gathered in a body to pay tribute to a loyal member of a great society service being conducted by Rev. Mr. Pur- cey and Rev. J.R. Skinner. The Canadian Legion also gathered in a large body to show respect to I iellow comrade.. While writing about Mr. Docherty it would only seem fitting to mention the high qualitiu of this quite ambitious man. He was a kind and loving father and aidcvoted husband and in his home his interests were in the things that made a house a home. Whenever a helping hand was needed George was always ready and willing to help and in the community in which he lived he was a much respected friend and those who were acquainted with him honor his memory. Messrs John A. MacDonald, C.R. Mac- Kenzie, R..C. MacPhee, w.ll. Mac- Innis, Fred Panton, and John Nicholson bore to the grave in the churchyard the earthly remains oi their neighbour and iricnd.
