ST. ANDREWS GOLF CLUB. Toronto, Sept. 10-A wide open struggle for the Canadian open golf championship developed to- day as defending champion Law- son Little towed his crown over- board with a wild 76 and at least a dozen sharpshootens got. on the title trail. -

Little, whose 72-hole record of 271 strokes appeared in little danger. skidded to 12 strokes off the smoking pace of Bill Burke of Cleveland, former United States open champion who reached the halfway mark with a one-shot ad- vantage over Harry Cooper of Chicopee, Mas.

Burke fired his second 60 today and at. the 36-hole stage his 138, two under par. represented the best shooting on St. Andrew's since Little knocked par into a cocked hat last year vftfi four rounds under 70. Cooper's 67-72-139 was the next best.
