Never before was the St, Patrick’s evening celebration at Emersid attended with euch enccess as on Saturday. The night was beautiful, the roade fairly good and the trains from Summerside aed Cape Traverse were crowded by the time tvev reached Bmerald. Needless to eay the play in the opinion of everyone present was an unprecedented success. Never before did amateurs pre- sent in Emerald such a highly creditable play. To particularize with any degree of fairness would be well nigh imposeible as each lady and gentleman sustained their “role” in manner that weuld do credit to professionals. However,we may say that “Darling Light,” “Barney,” and “Kate Hennesey,” kept the audience in good humor by the. laughable sayings andactions, while “Shaun ” the villain, “Mary O’Neill,”’the heroine of the play, “Con,” the cid man, “Father Tom,” who looked every inch a_ priest, “Frank” aod “Norah,” successfully interpreted the more serious parts ofthe play. Al! the performers deserve great credit indeed. As this play will be repeated at Kelly’s Cross, it will doubtiess
