were received from former pas- tors of the charge including Rev- erends W. J. MacLeod, E. M. Alt- ken. C. U. MacNevin, D. K. Ross. E. R. Woodslde. J. R. Skinner and M. K. Charman. Rev. Geo. Til- ley who has frequently prr-acheri In the church also sent a friend- ly letter. These were read to the congregation by Mr. W. R. Shaw.

Mrs. W. J. Mutch and Mrs. Jack MacRae of Cherry Valley, were guest singers and their beautiful music greatly the service. A mixed quartet of the church consisting of Miss Shirley MacDonald, Mrs. Arthur MacDonald, Mr. George IViacPhee and Mr. Walter Shaw, with Mrs. Hector Currie as accompanist, sang most acceptably. The choir. assisted by neighbouring singers, gave fine leadership to the service

of praise.

Mr. Wilbur MacDonald was a business visitor to Montague on October 23.

Miss Hannah Crane, Montague. spent the October 24 week-end with her mother. Mrs. Alfred Crane.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter MacLeod, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd MacDonald and Mrs. Francis Maclntyre were vis- itors to Montague on October 24.

Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Crane and family, Hazelbrook. were guests of Mr. Cra.ne's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ward crime on October 25.

The final dance of the season was held in Lorne Valley Hall on October 20. Those weekly dances, sponsored by the women's Instit- ute, were well patronized during the summer. .

..'Mr. Bert Leard was a visitor to Charlottetown on October ll), where he attended the hockey game between the Sydney Million- aires and the Charlottetown Is- landers.

and family, Lnd Mrs. Homer James of Marie. motored to Lorne valley on October 25. They were guests of Mr. and Mra.. Francis Maclntyre.

oMrs. Reuben Mccannell visited Montague on October 23. While there she was the guest of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Mccannell.

Mr. and Mrs. Hariy MacLeod have returned to their home in Nova Scotla. after spending a few days visiting in this vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Ma.cI..eod. formerly lived here and always find the "welcome mat" at the door when they come back on a visit.

Mr. and Mrs. George Maoiniiis had as Sunday guests their sons- ln-law and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Douglas, Head of Bills- borough. and Mr. and Mrs. John Spencer, Charlottetown, on Octo- ber 25.

Cardigan-Lorne Valley P. Y. P. 6. held their reguianmeetliig on Oct- ober 23. A large number of mem- bers were present and answered the roll call with a verse of scrip- ture containing the word "Harvest". After the devotional and business periods A social time was spent and refreshiments were served. An address was read and a part- ing gitt. was presented to Rev. F. N. Young who will be leaving for Ontario in the near future,

Rev. and Mrs. Young have is.- boured in this charge for the past five years, and previous to that, Mr. Young was pastor of the Marsh- field-Mount. Stewart Charge. Their many friends on the Island wish Mr. and Mrs. Young and family. health and happiness in their new home. v AM

SOUTH WINSLOE MISSION t BAND

The October meeting of South Winsioe Mission Band met at the home of Mrs. Erith Hughes oi; October 24, with an attendance of 16.

The meeting opened by singing "Come Children Join To Sing", followed by scripture read by Doris Younker and prayer offer- ed by Shirley Diamond. Mrs Orville Tui-ri.cr then told an inter- esting story, followed by a solo, "Jesus Loves The Little Children”, sweetly sung by David Younker. The study book on Africa was presented which pointed out the customs of boys and girls of that. country. The Mission Band pur- pose was repeated and a closing prayer by Mrs. Hardy.

An invitation was extended from the W. M. S. for the Baby Band and Mission Band members to attend the annual Mite Box Open- ing for the three organizations to. be held in November. All mite boxes will be passed in that night. .

.Ma.ny Halloween games were. then enjoyed which started off by singing "Dick Has The Whooping Cough" and a peanut scramble. A. relay race of blowing musical Hal- l lowe'en balloons followed, and also, ducking for apples caused muciii merriment. i

Refreshments were then servedl by the hostess. after which a vote. of thanks was extended to Mrs. Hughes by Shirley Diamond and another pleasant: Mission Band meeting brought to a close.
