JAMES ERNEST SMITH

The sudden passing of James Ernest Smith on October 31, 1958 at his home, 154 Upper Prince Street, Charlottetown, came as a great shock to his family, rela— tives and many friends far and near.

“Jim” 15 he was familiarly known was born in Rocky Point in 1883 son of the late Francis and Emma (Ferguson) Smith. Except for a few years in the mining town of Mole, B.C., most of his life was spent on his farm at Rocky Point, coming to Char- lottetown to retire in 1951.

Mr. Smith was twice married. His first wife, Mary Louise Bur- dett, predeceased him in 1939. From this marriage there were three children; Marion who pre-

. deceased her father and mother

in 1929; surviving are Thelm3 (Mrs. Newton Taylor) now re- siding in Montreal and Howard in Rocky Point.

Also left to mourn are his second wife, the former ZflIplI‘ a MacQuarrie; five grand children and one great grandchild; three brothers, Leslie in British CoI~ umbia; Ivor in Ontario and Bruce in New Dominion, P. E. Island; two sisters, Janie (Mrs. MacMillao) in Massachusetts
