The wheat crop was emall, but the yield of hay and grass was heavy, consequently there wasa large output of cheese and butter. In his section the output was double what it was the preceding year. Ihe large output and the better prices which prevailed put the farmers in better sbare to meet their obligations. Mr. Reid
then spoke of the advent to power of Sir Wilfrid Laurier and claimed thar ti:ee that time the volume of trade bad grea'ly increased. In two yeare it was amost as large as during the eighteen years of Conservative rule There was
also a surplus of $2,000,000. In the face of this he could not see how any one could deny the prosperity of Canada. W Lat was true of Canada as a whole also policed to Prince Edward Island, and he bought we bad reason to be. thankful as tated by the address Jeferring to the appointment of Lord Minto as Governor Geneisl of Canada, Mr. Reid expressed tbe opinion that he would make a worthy successor to Lord Aberdeen.
