The Steamer ‘‘Preston,” which went shore at Berwick a few weeks ago, has tloated off. She sustained slight injuries.

Last night, a Pullman Sleeping Car, attached to a train running from this city to Glasgow, took fire from the stove. The passengers were immediately alarmed, and an unsuccessful attempt was made to ex- tinguish the flames. One passenger, sleeping in a central berth, who did not hear the alarm given by the porter, waa burned to death.

Vienna, Oct. 29. The bridge on Wildbad Gastein road has heen swept away. The cemetery at Bruneck has been flooded, graves laid open and coffins carried away. The town of Lienz is completely inundated. The rivers Po, Adige, fatiemente and Brenta have overflowed their banks and inundated the country. Texet, Oct. 27. The steamer Gulf of Panama, from Japan for Bremen, has stranded off Zuider-haaks. Part of the crew was saved; 22 persons were drowned. Berye, Oct. 29. Prince Edward Island, an insolvent Bank- ing Company.

PON the application of the Liquidators

of the abovy-named Bauking Company, and upon reading the éfiiavil of Lemuel Cambridge Owen, Charles Colson Gardiver, and David ©, Chalmers, with the Scheduie thereto annexed, filed the fifteenth day of

September last past, and th: order made by me, dated the fifteenth day of Seplember last, and the notice signed

by the Prothonotary, issued in pursuance of such order, and the affidavit of Leith E, Brecken of the due publication of such notice filed the twenty-fifth day of September Last, and upon bearing counsel fer the said Liquidators and counsel for several of the contributories of said Compary, I do order that a first ex]! of forty dollars per share be mde ow all the coutribatories of the said Banking Company.

And I do further order that each such con- tributory do, on or betore the first day of December next (A, D. 1882), pay into the Bank of Nova Scotia, at its rranch in Char.
