After announcing- Bill Cook would be moved back on defence Patrick was forced to use the vet- eran as centre for the third line when Bun Cook developed a touch of rheumatic fever. Ott Heller, Earl Selbert and Ching Johnson carried the defensive ‘burden with Selbert a standout both ways. Rangers played with 13 men in uniform in- stead of thc~usual 15.

EarbRobinson gave the Maroons a first period lead when he drilled the puck past Dave Kerr from short range after taking a long pass from Dave Trottier in the fourth minute.

Rangers had a wide margin in the scoreless second period and Maroons were aided by luck on three occasions at least when Ran- ger forwards had Beveridge at their mqrcy.

Shortly after the half-way mark in tho third session Keeling tied the score on a neat play with Boucher and Glen Brydson that saw them pass the puck around to furnish the opening after halting a Maroon rush inside the blue line. Skiers Hope For Success AtOlympics

MONTREAL. Jan. 12-512: of Canada's best skiers are due ‘to arrive at Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Bavarian Alps, Jan. l3. to represent the Dominion in the Olympic skiing championships to be held Feb. 7-16.

Captalned and managed by Ar- thur H. Pangman, Montreal, the Canadians left Saint John Jan. 3, on the liner Duchess of Bcdford. Their hopes for success were voiced by Pangrnan who declared, “we'll do the best we can."

The team will get in a lot of practice before the competition starts. In previous contests, Can- ada has been unable to dent the imposing records set up by the ex- perts representing the Scandin- avian countries.

With Pangman are Karl Beads- vik, Montreal, ski champion in 1933 and 1933; W, J. Ball, Montreal. runner-up for the Canadian cham- pionship last year; W. G. Clark, Ottawa, present Dominion cham- plori; Norman C. Gagne, Montreal. and Torn Mobraeton. Vancouver, Pacific coast champion.

Baadsvik will compete in the jumping, combined, slalom and downhill events and Boll and Clark in the combined, slalom and down- hill. Mobraeton will take part in the jumping and combined contests and Gagne, French-Canadian rep- resentative on the team, in jump- ing.

The program: Feb. 7,. downhill for women and men; Feb. B, slalom for women; Feb. 9, slalom for men; Fob. 10, IO-kilometre relay race (four heats); Feb. 12, Iii-kilometre ianglauf. special and combination; Feb. 15, combination jumping; Feb. 14, army patrol race; Feb. 15, 50-kilometre endurance race and Feb. 16, special jumping.

PANGMAN, Arthur 11., manager. member of the 1932 Canadian Olympic ski team, Pangman trav- elled to Europe in 1933 with the McGill-Red Birds ski team. He dis- tinguished himself in the Akad-, emische relay race at St. Moritz when his stirring fourth-man ef- fort was largely responsible for McGili's victory. Faced with a course of nearly continuous straight climb he cut clown the time of the two leading Italian teams by a wide margin and gave the anchor man the chance to nose out the Italians. While not a win- ner in recent championships, Pangman is always among the top-notchers. He is a. former pres- ident and one of the founders of the Red Birds Ski Club, Montreal, a club composed 0i’ McGill gradu- ates and undergraduates. Born in Montreal July 1, 1905, Pangman at- tended Loyola College and McGill University, graduating in 1930 from MlGill. He started competit- ive skilng on his graduation and has been well to the front in East- ern Canada events.

BAADSVIK, Karl, of the Viking

' Ski Club, Montreal, he was born in

1910 near Trondheim, Norway, the middle of some of the most famous Norwegian ski country. l-Ie learned his skiiing in Norway, coming to Montreal with his family in 1929. One of the steadiest and consistent ski jumpers in Eastern Canada, he held the Dominion combined championship in 1933 and 1934. He was second in the 1935 Dominion Jumping and won the 1935 Quebec Kandahar, Eastern Canada's hard- est downhill race. Six feet tall and well-built, Baadsvik is also a noted wllwlfvb. in consecutive years win- ning the junior, intermediate and senior single Dominion champion- ships.

MOBRAETON, Tom, of the Van- couver Ski Club. He was born in Norway in February, 1910. Leiirn- ing his skiing in Norway he jump- ed many times with the famous Berger Rudd and came to Canada in 1930. He has taken part in lead- ing tournaments in the Pacific Northwest, winning many prizes.

CLARK, W. G. "Bud,” Si. Pat- rick's College Outing Club, Ottawa. Born in Ottawa in 1910, he started his skiling at an early age. A mem- ber of the 1932 Olympic team. Clark holds the 1935 Dominion combined title in addition to the Ontario ' and Quebec combined championships of last season. He also won the Quebec cross-country event last year. Started competi- tive skiling in major events in 1928 and in 1929 won the Ontario and Quebec cross-country cham- pionships. Since then he has been ‘ “ fields in numerous pastem Canada and international infer- collegiaie‘ akiiing events.

BALL, W. L. "Bill", Red Birds Ski Club, Montreal. Born in Mont- real Jilly 18, 1908, he has the ex- perience of a previous Olympic team and a European trip behind him. A member of the 1932 Olym- pic team the Montrealer was on the McGlll-Red Birds ski team which competed in Europe in 1933, Bill was educated at Westmount High School and McGill University. He was a member of the McGill ski team from i927 to i934 and was at one time intercollegiate‘ cross- country and downhill champion. Second in the Dominion combined championship in 1935 he was also second in the Quebec Kandahar downhill race.

In a close, bitter struggle that started out in a dull manner but ended up in a blaze of action Jun- ior Royals last night kept their undefeated league record intact when they rammed home two goals in an overtime’ session to defeat the Rangers 6-4. The victory gave last night's winners undisputed possession of first place in the standing as they now enjoy a four point lead over the runners-up.

The game turned out to be as thrilling as was expected. Forced to juggle their lilies owing to the absence of “Bud" Mclilach- em from their lineup, an injured knee keeping him on the sidelines, hangers sent their supporters into a frenzy during the first period as they scored two goals in thirty seconds while playing shorthanded to take ya 2-0 lead. Royals however, showed their mettle by making it even-stephen by the end of the second and then piling up a two goal, lead early in the third. But like the Ranger's they saw this lead dwindle before the third period had ended with the score 4-4. However in the overtime the win- ners staged a five-star show in building up another two goal lead and this time they kept it, despite herculean efforts of their oppon- ents.
