War at UPEI

It’s been called the war of CIMN. Two radio shows airing on Thursday nights are bidding for the top spot in listener response. The DJ 5 will stop at nothing to get the audiences attention in their show and away from the other’s show. ' Shane MacDougall , host of The Incredibly Delirious Show from 8 to 10, and Danny Mullen, host of Starshot from 6 to 8, are in dire conflict for your radio listening time. The conflict began a few weeks ago with a bit of “You’re show is the worst show on the air,” going around the station. Both DJs played pranks on each other on the air, and both swore revenge of the other. Many listeners have been shocked by what the two say about each other publicly. “It’s not that I don’t like him, it’s that his show s---'s”. The remark is mutual.

The final battle of the DJ ’5 war is not starting. The contest to end all contests. Shane and Danny are now responsible for making pro- motions for the other’s show. For every promotion Shane makes of Starshot, Danny must make one for The Incredibly Delirious Show.

The commercials are basically de- signed to de-promote the other’s show and still deal only with the other show.

The ads are basically in fun, and definitely funny. If you do listen to CIMN next Thursday night, or if you can do, then call in

and tell either of them which show is better. Someone else will be responsible for tabulating results. If you don’t like either of the shows, make sure you tell them —— both of them. To get in touch with CIMN on Thursday nights (or anytime) just phone 566-0417 or

Being a friend of both DIS, I CANNOT VOTE. Frankly I like one show better than the other, but I can’t say which. Note: if you hear an ad with Michael Jackson singing, rest assured that every

be in Ottawa attending the Canadian Federation of Students conference. One of the main issues of the conference is Student Aid and I, along with Rob Kelley (CFS rep), will do our best to present P.E.I. students’ views and concerns (and maybe we'll have some fun too).

I would like to remind you that next semester is not too early to start thinking about financial aid opportunities for next year. Remember, the early bird gets the worm.

Here are a few bursary deadline dates:

l)Canadian Federation of University Women: Professional Fellowship -— $4,000 award granted to a woman with a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent; who’s intention is to pursue graduate work.

Alice E. Wilson Grant — $1,000 awards: (6) grant. Special consideration is given to candidates returning to study after

a few years. DEADLINE: December 15, 1985 2) Gandalt‘ Scholarship: $2,000 award open to students in the fields of Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science. Appli- cants must be working towards Sophomore status. . DEALINE: December 17, 1985 3) Pillsbury Undergraduate Scholarship Program: Four scholarships awarded to the following areas: Business/ Commerce (2) at $1,250; Food Science (I) at $1,250 and Agricultural Science (1) at $1,250. Applicants must have completed their second full year of study. Evaluation is based upon the student’s transcript as well as participation in extra- curricular activities. DEADLINE: November 30, 1985
