Two weeks ago, the men’s basketball team also finished their A.U.A.A schedule, but un- like their female counterparts they would not make the playoffs. Nevertheless, the men’s team had an outstanding season, finishing with a respectable 13-7 record- a huge improvement

over their 8-12 record from the previous season. Over the season, the Panthers proved that they could play with any team in the league. Their 13 wins were second only to first place Cape Breton. In fact, the Panthers had a better record than St. FX, Dalhousie, and St. Mary’s, all of whom placed ahead of the Panthers in the standings. The men’s basketball plays an unbal- anced schedule, that is, some games are worth four points while others are worth two. In fact, U.P.E.I. split two games with St. FX, the eventual league champions. St. Fx beat St. Mary’s Huskies 84-71 in the league final last Sunday. The two games U.P.E.L. played against the X-Men this year were extremely close and were probably the most entertaining games they played all year. After a year off from being competitive, the Panthers appear to be ready to return as annual contenders. @
