I remember it scared me, because although I didn’t have a complete understanding of what had happed, I was a female too and maybe that wasn’t a safe thing to be. As I got older and learned more about the killings, I realized how stupid and senseless it was, how stupid and senseless violence against women is — period. Why as women should we be

is unacceptable. Women and men need to stand up and be counted on this issue. When all of us truly believe that violence is unacceptable, then real changes can be made.

So on Dec. 6, between writing exams and worrying about late term papers, stop for a moment and remember the fourteen women who died in Montreal simply because they were women. Remember these courageous young women who never got a chance to write their exams, or graduate, or live out their lives. Take a half hour and attend UPEI’s memorial service at noon on Dec. 6 in the
