BAY OF FUNDY - SIGNIFICANT MIGRATORY BIRD LOSS: by Brian Dalzell

Afier putting all the pieces together, it appears there was a significant mortality of passerine migrants in the approaches to the Bay of Fundy between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick between May 25-28th, 2004. Conditions during that time were quite unsettled, with frequent periods of rain, fog, high winds and low temperatures (~5°C) overnight and even during the day. I spent the week leading an Elderhostel birding program on Grand Manan, with a visit to White Head Island on May 27th.
