CLEAN-UP DAY. Reserve Saturday, May 14 to clean up the roadsides and ditches along your property. Nith everyone pitching in to do his share, we can all help to make the Island a little cleaner and more beautiful.

FILM NIGHT. The annual Environment Neek film night will be held on Wed. May 18 at Holland College 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. The evening will feature a series of films on nature and the environment, beginning with short films suitable for children during the first part of the evening. Plan to attend any or all portions of the evening showing. A tentative program follows:

ISLAND NATURE TRUST. The annual meeting of the Island Nature Trust will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19th in the Farm Center on University Ave. Guest speaker will be Colonel Pat Hootton, who will give an illustrated lecture on his work with youth groups on Lihou, a small island in the Guernsey Islands and his proposals for the two Murray River Islands he has purchased. As well, Katherine Clough's recently completed slide—tape presentation on the Greenwich sand dune system will be shown. During the annual meeting reports on the Trust's activities over the past year will be presented, and new directors will be elected. Since the Natural History Society is a member organization of the Island Nature Trust, a strong attendance from our membership would be much appreciated.

SIXTH ANNUAL FRANCIS BAIN BIRDATHON. The annual birdathon will be held on Sat., May 28. Everyone is encouraged to spend as much of the day as possible searching for birds. Please keep a list of all species seen, and for unusual sightings note numbers and location as well. At the end of the day everyone is invited to gather at Geoff Hogan‘s in Springvale for a pot-luck supper at 6:00 p.m. For details and directions contact Geoff at 892-4121.

BIRDS AND BREAKFAST. The annual Birds and Breakfast event sponsored by the P.E.I. National Park will be held Sat., May 28. Meet at the Rustico Island Campground entrance at 6:30 a.m. for a pleasant early morning bird walk. Afterward, gather

at the Brackley Beach picnic area for a hearty outdoor breakfast. Call the National Park at Dalvay (672—2211) to register.

UP NEST T0 TYNE VALLEY. Gather at the Y in Charlottetown at 9:00 a.m. on Sat , June 25 for a field trip to the Tyne Valley area. The trip is organized by Dr. and Mrs. Geoff Robinson, who will introduce us to some of their favourite natural beauty spots of early summer. Bring a lunch, outdoor footwear, binoculars, field guides, etc.

SPRING MUSHROOM HALKS. anyone interested in participating in informal mushroom walks to look for morels in late May should contact Katherine Clough at 894—8390.

BUTTERFLY FIELD TRIP. A butterfly field trip is being planned for some hot sunny Saturday in late July or early August. Techniques of collecting, mounting and preserving butterflies will be covered. If interested leave your name with Geoff Hogan at 892-4121.
