One of the minor titles borne by the sovereigns of England ever since the ac- ~ession of the House of Hanover is Sacri Romani Imperii, Archi-Thesaurus, Arch- Treasurer of the Roman Empire. The title dates back to Frederick, the Elec- tor Palatine, who held the office stated, but for ages after his time its duties were performed by adeputy.
