In conducting the sale the pub- lic address system on the mobile starting gate was used by Mr. MacDougall to introduce the horses, and to announce the bids.

OTAWA, (CP) — The Journal said Monday Works Minister Win- ters has been urzed to stand for election as Liberal leader in Nova scotia succeeding the late Prem- ier Angus I. Macdonald.

In a newspage story, the paper says Mr. Winters has confirmed that the approach was made but has given no hint of his decision.

“He said he had to decide whether he could give his best ser- vice to Nova Bcotia by remaining in Ottawa, where he came after service in the Second World War, or entering provincial politics," the story said.

Mr. Winters, 43. was parliamen- tary asslstant to Revenue Minister McCann in 1947, then became min- ister of reconstruction the follow- ing year. He became minister of resources in 1950 and works min- lster last year.
