Souris Council 1 Hears Complaints 1 From Citizens

The monthly meeting of thzi son:-is Town Council was held last night. Mayor Arthur Peters pre- xuled and all councillors-John ii. .XincLean, Henry Larter, Wilfred wright. Bruce Stewart, Charles lloylan and Foch MacDonald were present.

After routine business had been disposed of, the council heard complaints from citizens present. They dealt with two problems, parking onsthc town's streets sat- lirday nights and livestock run-T iiing at large in areas on the edgel of the town, destroying gardcnsl and lawns.

it was decided to adjourn the meeting to next Monday night. in the meantime the council will dis- cuss the complaints with the RC. NIP.

successful cancer campaign completed

.'A highly successful collection. which netted one hundred dollars, for the Cancer Campaign, has ra- centiy been completed in George- 'mvn. The campaign in George- town, was under the direction of Mr. W. J. Fitzgerald and showed not only good organization but s, deep and personal interest, as reflected in such contributions as the Can- adian Legion and the Legion'I ladiea' Auxiliary.

The October meeting of the Wo- men's Institute, Montague, was held at the home of Mr. Louis Higg-lnbothem Tuesday evening with the president. Mrs. Lorne Wiggington, in the chair.

Macliure and Mrs. Raymond Dewar were appointed to the nom- inating committee for the next meeting, which will be held earlyl in November following the annuali banquet at the Bison Restaurant. Mrs. Gordon Coffin and Mrs. Les-I for MacLeod were appointed in charge of arrangements for the banquet.
