More Potato Pickers Arrive From Cape Breton

Thirty-four imen from the Cape Breton area arrived at Borden last night and were picked up by me representative of the Employment

used to harvest the apple crop in that area and furthermore that quite a. numbercof labourers were

other seasons. A point that perhaps has some bearing on the number of workers

applying is the fact that last year return fares were provided while

the men are required to pay their

own way home this year. -

The only exception made to this

ruling is In the case of a man wihn

work.

Asked regarding this year's crop Office of-

ficial stated that it was not as

heavy as lust. It was pointed out,’

too. that fanners throughout the Province did not plant the acreage this year that they did last season.

The regular monthly meeting of the Sunnrnerslde Town Council was held last right with His Honor lviayor JP. Arnett presIcLng and Councillors Wedge. Morrison, Gor- rlll and Driscoll Ptesent.

Town paid bills ammmting to $9,683.06 were confirmed and it was moved and seconded that un- pad bills amounting to $2585.60 be paid. Electric light billg paid am- ounting to 811.8536 were confirmi- ed and by motion unpaid bills um- ount.ng to $14,114.06 were ordered paid.
