The term oi the present occupant of the high office has a year or two to run. But there seems to be no inherent improba- bility in the story of Senator Macpherson having been fixed upon for the succession. — St. Johan News.

The Niagara Falls correspondent of the su ffalo Courier describes the following in- cident of the Princess Louise’s visit to the former place :—‘‘ Her Royal Highness is very thoughtful and considerate of all who are connected in anyway with her house- hold. Lately she observed that one of her servants frequently placed his: hands wpon his face. His peculiar appearance aroused her suspicion. She immediately inquired the cause, and learned that he was suficring with a raging toothache.
