INCENDIARIES are at work in Yarmouth, N. Ss. On Tuesday might last three alarms of fire were sounded. The building known as the ‘*long boat,” at south end of the town was burnt. About 2 o'clock an unoccupied house in Parade street, belonging to J. K. Reo, ex- M. P. P., was burnt. About five o'clock the offices of the Western Counties Railway were discovered to be on fire, but were saved by prompt action of the firemen. ‘The fires are all ascribed to incendiaries, andl as far as learn- ed there was no insurance.

Ar the recent meeting of the Anglican Synod, of Mentreal, Mr. L. H. Davidson asked his Lordship Bishep Bond, who pre- sided, if any bishop of this Province (ecle- siastieal) had assumed the title of ‘‘Metro- volitan.” His Lordship : ‘‘Yes ; the Bishop ef Fredericton has assumed the title.” Mr. L. H. Davidson—‘‘I will then move that this Synod, having learned that the Lord Bishop of Fredericton has assumed and nsed the title of Metrepolitan, this Synod respectfully but umnhesitatingly protests against the assumption by said Lord Bishop of Fredericton, or any other of the Bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province, of the title and dignity of Metropolitan of Canada, re- affirming the decision arrived at by this Synod and embodied in the resolution printed on pages 644 and 645 of the report of the 16th Session of the Synod, which

. claims said dignity and title as rightfully

belonging to its Bishop alone, and hereby requests him to centinve to use said title, notwithstanding the action of said Right Rev. the Bishep of Fredericton.” This was placed on the orders for consideration.
