Hon. Mr. Fielding to Reconsider His Proposition,

Mr. ;Mulock’s Post Office Bill—Sir Charles Tupper Bancuetted.

Orrawa, June 10.—Sir Richard Cart- wright moved that the House go into com- mittee on the Fast Line Steamship service contract today.

Hon. Mr. Mulock introduced a bil amending the Post Office Act. It proposes a form of guarantee to take the piace of separate bonds from each offcer appointed.

In committee further items in the iron and steel list were considered. After dis- cussion Hon. Mr. Fielding proposed to re- consider his pruposition to make wire fences twenty-five per cent. while wire is admitted free. The Finance Minister hoped he might be able to make the duty lesa.

The banquet given Sir Charles by the Liberal-Conservative members of the House of Commons and tthe Senators last night was a most enthusiastic demonstra- tion.

Principals and Others Concerned in the Contest Arrested.

New York, June 10.—Before a crowd ef more than ten thousand people Peter Maher and Tom Sharkey met in the arenas of the Palace Athletic Club last night and the contest had a most unsatisfactory end- ing. Both Mahar and Sharkey bad trained carefully and when they «tripped in the ringeach one was the picture of health and strength. Maher wasa big*favorite, but there seemed to be plent of Sharkey mouey ce When they began operations Maher’s ad- vantage in height and reach was very marked. The boxing wae very tame for five rouods neither man showing a mark. In the sixth round Sharkey with a we!l- directed straight right on the mouth sent Peter sprawling half way through the ropes where he struggled for five seconds before he regained his feet. Ten seconde later the gong ended the sixth round, and when Maher returned to his corner he spat outa lotof blood, The seventh round was nearly completed when Maher, after getting in eome goud blows on Sharkey, sent the latter to the floor near the ropes with a left in the wind and a right ewing on the jaw. Tom wasup again inside of five seconds and rushed into a clinch. In this clinch Maher kept working his right on the body, and when the gong sounded neither heeded the warning of tae time keeper but kept on hitting each other. One of Mahber’s seconds rushed over and grabbed Maker. While se was trying to pull the big fellow away Sharkey swung his right ou the second’s face dazing him. By this time the house was in

an uproar aod there were cries of foul. In- apectcr McLaughlin here ordered the police to arrest all those concerned

in the fight. Tbe principals were the first to be placed under arrest and then the seconds and referee were told to accom- pany the officers. While all this was going ou the hundreds of spectators were clamor- ing for a decision froin the referee. Finally it was made known that referee Co'vil’e had decided to call the bout a draw. This did not seem to please a good many, but according to the conditions agreed upon by both men the jadgment of the yeferce was right aud proper,
