-A very pleasant evening was spent by those present at the Hamilton Hall on Thursday even- ing, September 25th. when the Womenls Institute sponsored I dance tor those in the district and invited guests from sur- rounding districts, and to present

show their appreciation for his many years of obliging service as their mail courier.

After a few reels of old time and modem dancing, Mr, Lloyd Lock- erby called the gathering to order aiid- asked Mr. Gormnn to come forward.

Mr. Lockerby then extended to "Louie" the community's appreciat- ion for the man) years of friendly ilntl faithful service and expressed the regret at all at his resignation.

Mrs. James Rarnsay then pre- sented him with a beautiful stat- ion wagon coat. "Louie", completely taken by surprise, expressed his sin- cere thanks.

The music then continued and some very fine step dancing was enjoyed by many. Those taking part were Messrs. Ned McLeod, Keir Woodside, Bruce Riley, George Campbell, Thomas Campbell and David Ramsay. Lunch was served by the institute members, bringing an enjoyable evening to an end. The music was fumlshed by Ethan and Harriet Campbell.

will attend Agricultural College for the coming year. '

Mr. Robert Reeves left on Mon- day, September 29 for Charlotte- town. where he has taken a posi- tion with the'Rogers Hardware Co. All wish him success in his new venture.

home on Friday evening, Septem- ber 26th, from is two weeks' visit spent pleasantly with friends in Boston and vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bell of Searletown were visitors to Free- town on Sunday, September 28th. at the home of Mrs. Bellls sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Bradshaw.

Miss Fidessa Reeves, R.N.. of the staff of Prince County Hos- pital, has returned to Summerside after a brief holiday spent at her home in Freetown.

'Great improvements have been made in many homes in Freetown during the past summer. In Lower Freetown the house of Messrs. Ed- mund and Robert. Burns has been undergoing extensive alterations. and when finished will be very modern and very attractive. In South Freetown, Mr. Ollie Mccar-, ville has had his house raised and the walls and roof covered with siding and asphalt shingles, be- sides making niany interior im- provements. Mr. Fred Drummond has added a large sunporch, and is now doing a paint job, and Mr. Wilbert Drummond is also adding a sun porch. Mr. Leslie Reeves has made many improvements and now has a very attractive and up to date home. AB

LONDON, Sept. 30-(Reuters)- Andrei Gromyko, Russian Ambas- sador to Britain, was ,to fly to Moscow today by way of Berlin, his embassy announced. The em- bassy declined to give any reason for the trip but it is probably concerned the congress of the all- Communist party which begins in Moscow October 5.
