3-0 In Football Opener

Pete Dunphy's try in the early part of the second half gave the saint Dunstan University varsity team a 3-0 win Saturday over the Charlottetown Abbies in the open- ing football game of the season.

The game, played on the s.D.U. gridiron, was a herd fought en- ocunter all the way and provided the large crowd on hand with plenty of thrills.

In the first half of the game both teams put on spirited rally: that always fell short and their long rune were-broken before any great damage was done. Dunphy made the first long run of the game midway through the half but was hauled down with about ten more yards to go by the Abbie full- back. The saints. scrum working hard all the way was providing their backfield with tile ball near- ly all the time -but costly fumbles on the part of the backfield pre- vented them from making any dan- gerous threats. with 9. two man scrum being called about fifteen
