Cross examined by Mr. Sullivan.—I. am not married. My propor place of residence is Appin Road. My father aud mother live there: My father’s nameis Robert. We started that morning from Wins'oe Road. I weut to Brackley Point for a cruise about a month ago, and was at Winsloe Road with my sister about a fortnight before that Thureday. My ssistes'’s home waa on the Winsloe Road. My sister was mar- ried before. Her first husband lived on the Winsloe Road, and that was her home. Her place is about a mile and a half from Melunis’ place. We left the Winsloe Road about 4 a. m., the four of us, and called no place on the way. We got to town abcut 7 a. m. I was present st Mr. McLeo:)'s house at the marriage. There were the four of us present [ was not with the, accuged when they got tue license. We left Mr. McLeod's about 5 o'clock. We then walked on the street to Mrs, Offer's. We stayed about an hour and went home. Our intention wes to go home to father’s, We were about half-way at dark. Mrs. Dart and James Henry are brother and sister ; that is why we steyed there. My sis'er wanteg to go home tq father's and have a eru’se, that is the reason she did not go with her husband. Did not see accused sincs Friday week at 6 p. m., until to-day. I don't know where they went; they told me they were goirg home. Henry Dart told me of the murder. My sister and I were down there. We heard iton Wednes- day night between 9 and 10 o'clock. Dart was not in town that day. Don’t know Mclunis’s long; nor much about them. Don't knew where they have been since that Friday evening, George was sober, but James Henry had some in him. He was able to knock about. My sister has been at father’s ever since. We have both been absent from Melos ever since that Friday, James Henry got married without consent and without his mother or sistez knowing about it—so James Henry told me, but his mother never told me.
Henry Dart and other witnesses were then examined. The magistrate stated he would take bail of two parties in $1,000 each for George Alexander McInnis, but refused bail to James Henry Meinnis, ho court then adjourned until to-morrow.
