D. B. Matheson Dies Suddenly

MONTAGUE—The death o¢cur- red suddenly at his home Friday of Daniel Bell Matheson of Mill- town Cross in his 75th year

The late Mr. Matheson was born at Bradalbane where he liv- ed until the age of eight years. With his family he then moved to Milltown Cross where he re- sided until the time of his death.

Left to mourn besides his wife are one son and three daughters:

The people of Murray Harbour were shocked to hear of the sud- den death of Joseph Bell, which occurred in, the Prince Edward Island Hospital on December 30, 1958. Mr. Bell was a veteran of World War One. He enlisted on the 5th of October, 1914 with the

ways at his best when the going was tough and perhaps one of his greatest contributions to the war effort was the high standard of morale he created among his comrades. He kept in close touch with his buddies since the war atd will be greatly missed by them. He was discharged May 18, 1919.

Review Of ‘58 Activities Given Souris Firemen

of the Souris firemen was held in the fire hall on Monday Fire Chief Edmund C. Lavie, gave a resume of the 1958 activities of - the fire department.

He thanked all volunteer mem- bers for their splendid work at the fire calls during the year and also commended the citizens for their co-operation in keeping the streets clear and their general help during fire calls.

He then went on to show the financial aspect of the depart- ment. from various froms of en- tertaimment the department real- ized enough money to finance the purchasing of equipment for town use in the vacinity of $1000.

The Souris Fire Department consists of a fire chief, a captain, and 20 volunteer firemen.
